After the oversaturation of unstoppable action heros in the 80's director John Mctiernan wanted to make his next action movie a little different. By casting Bruce Willis, a lesser known funnyman and making the hero very vulnerable the team behind this movie didn't know they were in the midst of making a legend of a movie. Releasing in july but quickly becoming a christmas classic in the minds of many this film brought a new trend of action movies to life.
